The romance and transmutation of artist Brooke Holiday
Painter, teacher, home cook and romantic, Brooke Holiday lives where food meets feeling and story meets Still Life. Her paintings, inspired by objects and domestic rituals, carry emotional weight: a bruised pear, a flicker of candlelight, a beloved market trip.

For Brooke, art is transformation and transmutation. What’s felt becomes form and colour. She didn’t paint for seven years after a uni lecturer dismissed her, but eventually returned, embracing imperfection and what she calls the necessary ‘weirdness’.
“Just because you're not considered to be classically perfect doesn't mean that you can't do it - we need more of that weirdness”

“Cooking is storytelling. It softens people…
Food opens up space for human connection in such a unique way.”
Cooking is Brooke’s other creative language: The sweet Indian ‘barfi’ from her grandmother, a fridge frequently stocked with her Salsa Verde, drop-in dinners and butter on everything.
